How much power is required for the motor to rotate the system? (You can assume any diameter for the motor and system gears)

100 Motor (la, chenin C herin to+3 2 1

Solution

GIVEN & ASSUMPTIONS:- Speed of rotating system = 100 RPM and let angular acceleration \'a\' = 1 rad/s2, Motor pulley diameter = 0.4m and system pulley diameter = 0.6m, The 3 individual masses can be converted into a single mass ring of 300 kg

SOLUTION:- Radius \'r\' of the rotating system r = 1 / Cos(30) = 1/0.866 = 1.15m

So the inertia I of the ring = 300 x (1.15)^2 / 2 = 198.4 kg.m

So torque required to rotate the system Ts = I x a = 198.4 x 1 = 198.4 Nm

Since system pulley rotates at 100 rpm, so motor pulley will rotate at (100 x 0.3) / 0.2 = 150rpm

So finally the power required at motor Pm = 0.105 x Tm x 150 = 0.105 x 198.4 x 150 = 3124.8 Watts

So Motor Power required Pm = 3125 W = 3.12 KW (ANSWER)
