Subacute care is defined as the care provided by the nrusing homes / extended units of hospitals for the stable patients, which needs longer treatment support under supervison of medical representative or doctors.  

The subacute care is basically to support the patients of acute disease or acute illness, whcih requires care equivalent to hospital standards.

Since these sub acute care is long duration care. the hospital charges or terriff plans are very high, so these longer subacute care unit get larger revenue due to longer stay of patients. Thus the sub acute care looks to be the option of generating longer revenues for the medical businesses.

Basically if we look from the patients point of view, the subacute care units are essential and significant for the care of patients based on the need of such care for the patients. Since the patients which are suffering from such cronical disease, which calls for longer care or treatment, for such patients, the subacute care units are very much needed or required. The patients can not take care themselves for such diseases and hence needs the care equals to the medical standards.

Though this option looks to be of high revenue generating, but still these care units are needed for the patients.

If the patients are able to manage themsleves during the cure of their diseases, then they can be discharge from subacute care units and can stay at their home for the cure duration. So this subacute care units are required only when patients are not able to take care of themselves at their home, and needs longer medical services/cares.

So subacute care units are essential for the needs of the patients, though they are helping the business to generate high revenues, but care is more important than the revenue generation. Though some of the businesses exploring this option, but the patient has the right to get discharge from the subacute care units and can stay at his/ger home if he/she is capable.
