i need help with question No.5. only No.5, this is a review for before the exam:

For questions 1-5 use the following sets: A = N, B = {x: x is even}, C = {x: x is odd}, D = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} A B =... A B C D theta A B =... A B C D theta B C =... A B C D theta B C =... A B C D theta (Free Response) What is D - A, D - B, and D - C?

Solution

First lets understand all of the sets A,B,C & D

1. A=N so A is the set of all natural numbers meaning will include all numbers including 0 i.e. {0,1,2,3...}

2. B={x:x is even} means B will include all even numbers i.e. (2,4,6...}

3. Similary C={x:x is odd} means C will contain all odd numbers i.e. {1,3,5...}

a. so now lets find D-A

={1,2,3,4,5}-{0,1,2,3,4,5}

Ans.: D-A=Nil i.e. phi

b. lets find D-B

={1,2,3,4,5}-{2,4...}

so this will leave only odd numbers from D

Ans: D-B= {1,3,5}

c. lets find D-C

={1,2,3,4,5}-{1,3,5..}

so this will leave only even numbers from D

Ans. D-C= {2,4}
