Susan, the office manager in your dental office, enjoys sharing personal information about the dentist and his wife with members of the staff. You are uncomfortable with her behavior but you know she is responsible for your evaluation, so you are reluctant to speak to her. What can you do?

To handle such a situation I will need to have talk to Mrs. Susan on personal basis. As being very professional with her in requesting her of something which isn\'t an issue of the job description can create negativity in her behaviour. I may meet her for this discussion at some informal place instead of her workplace or mine, which could be a cafetria. And then explain her how people in general feel if there personal information is leaked out in public and how their privacy is disturbed with it. I will give her examples and may be put her in the place of victim such that she herself realises the mistake she is making and accepts it. Blaming or accusing can only spoil the matter so this has to be done with patience and full understanding.
