Could you explain how alpha1-antitrypsin disease goes from cellular level to organ failure? In the acute phase reaction of a alpha - 1-antitrypsin deficiency disease a further elevation is required to \"limit\" the damage caused by activated neutrophil granulocytes and their enzyme elastase, which breaks down the connective tissue fiber elastin... It breakdown the cell elastin which leads to the cell damage and as no of cells gets damaged can lead to organ failure..!!
Moreover when this occurs for a chronic time It also leads to uninhibited tissue breakdown which leads to the failure of the certain organ.. It is mostly seen in the case of lung damage..!!
