In a class of 25 students, the average score is 85. Six students in the class each received a maximum score of 100, and five students each received a score of 60. What is the average score of the remaining students?

Solution

6 students ---- 100 marks ---- total = 100*6

5 students ---- 60 marks --- total = 5*60

Let remaining 14 students got ---- total y marks

So, Avg marks : ( 100*6 + 60*5 +y)/25 = 85

y = 1225 marks

So, avg score of remaining 14 stiudents = 1225/14 = 87.5 marks
