One such device is an LPG stove used in the kitchen of almost every household. The extant design used an annulur burner with bigger holes which heats up the utensils only from the bottom. This reduces the heating efficiency as the heating area is low and lot of heat is lost as exhaust and as radiation. A significant improvement in heating and hence savings in fuel [which in turn leads to great impact on environment] can be by way of supply of fuel through micro pores and use of radiation shield. This will help increase the heating area, in fact the pot can be heated from all around and the heating pad will also act as radiation shield.
Owing to fine diameter tubes, the burner can be made flexible to fit the type of pot being used for cooking. This can have industrial applications such as crucible furnaces where the thermal efficiency of the metling pots is
of the order of 15% and most of the time < 20%. A distribute supply of fuel and increasing the heating area is the only way of improving the efficiency as the flame temperature has to be limited bsed on structural strength requirements and melting point of the material used in construction of such equipments.
