Why do media used to culture fungi contain sugars?

Solution

Because fungi cannot make its own sugar so it needs a source from outside to grow. Generally organisams are classified in to two types 1) Autotrophs 2)Heterotrophs. Autotrophs can make their own food while coming to heterotrophes, it cannot make thier own food and the organisms under heterotrophs category are bacteria and fungi.
