Ex. 106d- Moles to mass conversion and scientific notation-use balanced equation to calculate (Pool 3 of 3) 9 ahempts lef Check my work Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) may be formed from salicylie acid and acetic acid as follows: Report problem CHO ng) Sabcybic acid Hint Acetic acid Aspirin How many g of acetic acid would be required to react completely with 7.72 x 10 mol salieylic acid? Enter your answer in scientifle notation. Be sure to answer all parts × 102 g acetic acid
Solution
According to balanced chemical reaction salicyclic acid and acetic acid react in equimolar proportion therefore to react with 7.72 X 102 mole of salicylic acid required acetic acid = 7.72 X 102 mole
7.72 X 102 mole = 772 mole
required acetic acid = 772 mole
molar mass of acetic acid = 60.05 g/mol
that mean 1 mole of acetic acid = 60.05 gm
then 772 mole of acetic acid = 772 X 60.05 = 46358.6 gm
to react with 7.72 X 102 mole of salicylic acid required acetic acid = 46358.6 gm = 4.63586 X 104 gm
Ans - 4.63586 X 104
