let the number be x

2/3 rd of a number = 2/3 x

so , 5/6 th more than 2/3 rd of a number = 2 times the number

equation would be

5/6 + 2/3 x = 2x

subtracting 2/3 x from both sides

5/6 = 2x - 2/3 x

5/6 = 4/3 x

x = 3*5 / 6*4

x = 5/8

therefore, the number is 5/8
