If the pH of a 150M solution of a weak acid is 35 Calculate

If the pH of a .150M solution of a weak acid is 3.5. Calculate % ionization.

Solution

[H3O+] = 10-pH = 10-3.5 = 3.16 X 10-4 M

[H3O+] of weak acid = 3.16 X 10-4 M

% ionisation = [H3O+] X 100/ [weak acid] = 3.16 X 10-4 X 100 / (0.150 ) = 0.21%

% ionisation of  0.150 M weak acid = 0.21%

If the pH of a .150M solution of a weak acid is 3.5. Calculate % ionization.Solution[H3O+] = 10-pH = 10-3.5 = 3.16 X 10-4 M [H3O+] of weak acid = 3.16 X 10-4 M
