Introduction
Before beginning this discussion thread please conduct a scholarly Internet search for the term ‘sociotechnical perspective’.

The sociotechnical perspective is also referred to by the acronyms TOP or TOM. These stand for Technology, Organization and Management/People. At its simplest, this a perspective meant to be applied to the systems that use tools. In our case those tools are information technology and the systems are digital. Using this perspective allows us to examine systems holistically and as interworking components.

Examples of Technology components are:

PCs

Mobile devices

Networks

Infrastructure

Data

Examples of Organizational components are:

Policy/rules

Procedures

Culture

Partnerships

Examples of People/Management components are:

Management practices

Employee empowerment

Employee training

The success of a system or the acquisition/implementation of a system depends upon matching the solution to the problem or desired outcome.

For example, if your organization is implementing tablet devices for the outside sales staff and a new CRM interface (in order to increase sales and firm up customer relationships) but the sales staff are not trained in a timely manner, then customer relations and sales would suffer (and, the implementation would be considered less than successful). In fact, the implementation might be considered a failure. In this instance, the system solution being implemented did not take the people/management component into account.

It is important to remember that you cannot resolve an organizational problem with technology, technology problem with people, etc.

Initial Post Instructions
In this discussion, consider an information system that isn’t working effectively. Or perhaps, think of an information system acquisition/implementation with which you are familiar. What is the purpose of the system and how does it succeed and how does it fail? How does the system address Technological, Organizational and Management/People needs? How might you address the shortcomings of this system?

400 WORD MINIMUM with 2 Intext citations, in APA Format. No copy and paste, orginial words only. Thank you.

Solution

The ERP or Enterprise Resource System

(Sawyers & Hossein) have stated the sociology and technology are interlinked and rightly so.

Taking into account system known as ERP or Enterprise resource management was implemented in a organization manufacturing automotive components.

7 departments (namely; Sales, Costing, Production, Quality control, Technical, Purchase and accounts) were provided access to the system and some limited access other full or authorization / approval access.

The entire interventions and process flow took over 3 years to implement as it required:

How it address the needs:

1. Technological:

2. Organizational:

     3. Management/ People needs:

The shortcoming of the system can be addressed as follows:
