13. Softball A recreational softball team paid a league entry fee of$825. The cost was covered by equal contributions from each member on the team. If there were four more team members, each person could contribute S20 less. How many members does the team have?

Solution

Suppose intially no. of players = X

fee paid by each member = Y

Then

X*Y = 825

Now if

No. of player = X + 4

fee paid by each member = Y - 20

(X+4)(Y-20) = 825

Put X = 825/Y in above equation and

(825 + 4*Y)(Y - 20) = 825*Y

Solve the equation:

X = 11 and Y = 75
