Use the graph of the polynomial y fx to answer the followin

Use the graph of the polynomial y = f(x) to answer the following. (a) estimate the solutions of the equation f(x) = 0. (b) What is the domain of the function? Give in interval notation (c) What is the range of the function. Give answer in interval notation.

Solution

ans(a):

f(x)=0 means find x-value when graph crosses x-axis

we see that graph crosses x-axis at two point which are approx x=-1.5 and x=-4.5

---------------------------------------

Ans(b):

Domain is basically possible x-values covered by f(x)

from graph we can see that graph goes from left to right without any break so domain is all real number

or we can write (-infinity,infinit)

----------------------------

Ans(c):

We see that graph doesn\'t go below y=-5

so range is given by [-5,infinity)
