A rectangle has area 600 square inches. Find a function which models as perimeter in terms of its length L.

Solution

Given that the area of a rectangle is 600square inches.

Let the length be L inches and Width be the W inches.

Area=Length x Width

= LW

Given Area = LW = 600

w=600/L

Need to find the perimeter of the rectangle interms of Length.

Perimeter = 2(Length + Width)

= 2(L+W)

= 2(L+(600/L))

= 2(L2 +600) / L

Therefore, Perimeter of the rectangle interms of Length L is = [2(L2 +600) / L] inches
