Average rate of change = change in y/change in x

x = 2 and x = 8,

Avg. rate of change = [f(b) - f(a)]/(b - a)

Avg. rate of change = [f(8) - f(2)]/(8 - 2)

y = sqrt (2x)

when x = 2, y = sqrt(2*2)

when x = 2, y = 2

Similarly

when x = 8, y = sqrt (8*2) = 4

Avg. rate of change = (4 - 2)/(8 - 2) = 2/6 = 1/3

Avg. rate of change = 1/3
