Mission statements are often criticized for being lists of platitudes. What can strategic managers do to prevent their statements from appearing to be simple statements of obvious truths? What evidence do you see that mission statements are valuable?
Solution
The need of a mission statement to a firm is, express the need of the firm to the stakeholders in one sentence or infew sentences. It is the reason why, usually firms prepare mission statements in such way. If it is described like any other process, then it must not be considered as mission statement. It is a simple and straight statement express the need for existance of the firm.
When it comes to the information consists in the statements, whatever the question said, it is true. Usually most of the mission statements will be like similar in words, express its moral content, in a catching mode and thoughtful to others.
Be speaken frankly, managers and workders do not consider the mission or vision statement of the firm. Just they strictly follow the regulations and guidelines of their boss or management and execute their duties. If the managers have a chance to look over the mission statement and desing the work, then, the better way is, prepare the statements in general way and design the work according to the need of the organization. Hence, there is no alternatives for managers in this context. Because, the statement is fixed, change nevers, but the organizational goals, the climate, the objectives, requirements, expectations, targets, and so on, all these are going to be chage regularly. So, we can not say that, a strategic manager always stick on to the mission statment or only stick on to the regular changing objectives.
But, what ever the business you design or follow, must done it with fair, without any discrimination, any intentionally frauds, then automatically your actions are more valuable and considered as fair actions only.
