It is then set down in place, producing an arena suitable for playing baseball. The total weight of the stand is 9,000,000 pounds. GIVEN:- Number of grand seats (N) = 21000, Total weight of seats (W) = 9000000 lbs,

TO FIND:- Supply pressure selection (Ps), Number of hydrostatic pads (n) and capillary compensating elements.

SOLUTION:- Individual weight of grand seat w = W / N = 9000000 / 21000 = 428.57 lbs = 1906.96 N

A typical hydrostatic bearing pad has a capacity to lift weight of 6000 N and a typical supply pressure of 2 MPa and a capillary compensating element of corresponding c/s area = 449.45 lbs / 290 psi = 1.55 in2

So diameter will be = [(1.55 x 4) / 3.142]^0.5 = 1.40 in

So, for our current situation requirement using this bearing pad, we would be able to lift 3 grand seats.

Therefore total number of bearing pads required would be 21000 / 3 = 7000.

ANSWER ---->Number of hydrostatic pads n = 7000, Supply pressure Ps = 2 MPa and Capillary diameter = 1.40 in
