The topic is significant because the college debt or college education per month can go up to 60% of the pocket expenses. If the college expenses rise, the number of people opting from college studies will go down and will affect the society in long-term.
Lower number of educated and competent people in society means higher crime and violence rates. Rising cost of college debt can also create issues of metal and psychological issues for the students and middle class people who rely on jobs for their survivals.
People should care about this because ultimately it is going to affect them both if govt. funds it by raising taxes or people pay it from there pockets.
Some of the questions related to high costs may include, how much the person paid, what % of the monthly pay go to college expenses, are they aware of the scholarships etc.
