The management practice is that they do not provide a thorough check of the Uber drivers’ license and their background. Also, whenever such incidents happen, the management states that it is the victim’s responsibility to report the fatalities to the police.

Personally speaking, if I have been the international manager for Uber, the first step is to conduct a thorough background investigation of the drivers. I would also go to the extent of hiring third party investigators to help me in the process. The next step is to fire the drivers who do not comply with the standards required to be a genuine driver. Also, whenever an incident such as sexual abuse and rape happens by Uber drivers, I would take the responsibility on behalf of Uber and report the fatalities to the police. This practice would make the Uber drivers to be cautious in what they understand that the management would not support them. This practice also contributes to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) by providing safety to women customers.
