A 400L rigid tank contains 5 kg of air at 25 degree C Determ

A 400-L rigid tank contains 5 kg of air at 25 degree C. Determine the reading on the pressure gage if the atmospheric pressure is 97 kPa.

Solution

Solution:-

PV = nRT

P = nRT / V

Since the rigid tank contains 5 kg of air.

so n = 5000 / 28.9 = 173.01

Calculate the absolute pressure

Pabs = (173.01 × 8.314 × 298) / 0.4

Pabs = 1071.611 kpa

Calculate the reading in pressure gauge

Pguage = Pabs - Patm

Pgauge = 1071.611 - 97 KPa

Pgauge = 974.61 kPa
