let the two numbers are x and y

let x=y+7 ----- equation (1)

and x+y=153 ----- equation (2)

substitue equation (1) in equation (2)

y+7+y =153

2y = 153-7

2y = 146

y= 73

from equation (1)

x=y+7

x=73+7

x=80

therefore the two numbers are x=80, y=73
