What effect would the actions listed below have on the follo

What effect would the actions listed below have on the following equilibrium:

H2Se (aq) + F- (aq) <-------------------> HSe- (aq) + HF (aq)

a) Sodium Biselenite NaHSe is added to the reaction vessel, would it shift to the left, to the right or no change?

b) If the reaction vessel is heated, Kc would increse, decrease or stay the same?

I know the answers are shift left (a) and increase (b), but I don\'t understand why or how to come to that conclusion. Please help.

Solution

H2Se (aq) + F- (aq) <-------------------> HSe- (aq) + HF (aq)

a)

if NaHSe is added , then HSe- concentration increases. so concentration of products increases. according to lichatlier\'s principle if the concentration of products increases, then the reaction sifts to left and vice versa.

so if NaSHe is added , then the reaction shifts to left

b)

Kc depends on temperature only .

if temperature increases , that means heated the vessel then Kc increases.

if the temperature decreases, then Kc also decreases.

What effect would the actions listed below have on the following equilibrium: H2Se (aq) + F- (aq) <-------------------> HSe- (aq) + HF (aq) a) Sodium Bise
