during experiment these are the results i got fraction one r

during experiment these are the results i got: fraction one received 0.9817 grams with 10 ml volume and fraction two received 0.9764 grams with 10 ml volume,

please help me anwer the following questions unsure how to set everything up

Report your results including:

a) volume collected and % ethanol for each fraction

b) % yield of ethanol from molasses

c) % yield ethanol from sugars, assuming approximately half of molasses is reactive sugars Show at least one representative calculation for each part (a, b, and c).
The relevant reaction is: C12H22O11 (sucrose) -> 4 CH3CH2OH + 4 CO2

Solution

C12H22O11 -> 4CH3CH2OH + 4CO2

a) Volume collected is 20ml as 10ml is collected from one fraction and 10ml from fraction two. For fraction one: %ethanol= (0.9817/10)*100= 9.817 and for fraction two: %ethanol= (0.9764/10)*100= 9.764 as in 10ml volume we recieve only certain gm of ethanol.

b) % yield of ethanol from molasses = (4*46/ molar mass of sucrose) *100 = 53.80

the equation tells us that from 1 mole of sucrose, 4 moles of ethanol are formed. So in order to find the %yield, we multiply the molar mass of ethanol by 4 and divide by molar mass of sucrose.

c) % yield of ethanol from sugars = (4*46/ molar mass of sugar) *100 = 26.90

As approximately half of molasses is reactive sugars, so, sugar mass remains the same but the molar mass get halved in the numerator as 1/2 mole of sucrose would give 2 moles of ethanol. So, to find the %yield, we multiply the molar mass of ethanol by 2.
