)    A certain manufacturer has signed a contract to ship 500,000 units of its product to her customer within one year. The manufacturer runs a two ten-hour shifts and each shift includes a 30-minutes lunch break and two ten-minutes breaks. The plant works five days a week and have nine holidays per year. Calculate the takt time.

Solution

number of working days in a week = 52*5= 260 days

out of 260, 9 days are holidays= 251 days

if out of 10 hrs, 9 hrs 10 the people are on work

so out of 2 shifts, 18 hrs 20 min is the working time per day.

=18.333 hrs per day*251days = 4601.583 is the total number of hrs worked.

therefore 500000/4601.583 = 108.65 units per hour should be produced to complete the contract in time
