Solution
The organism that caused the outbreak is Salmonella Enteritidis.The outbreak took place in Minnesota between 9th May 2015 to 22nd July 2015.A total of five people were infected.The infected people were 60% males and three of them were reported to be between the age of 14-68 years.Two of the males i.e 40% were hospitalised but there were no cases of deaths reported.The outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections was investigated byCDC, the Minnesota Department of Health along with U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS)and the infection was reported to be caused by consumption of raw, frozen, stuffed and breaded chicken meals produced by Aspen Foods.The infection occured in five peoplein Minnesota after they consumed Antioch Farms brand frozen, raw, stuffed and breaded chicken meals produced by Aspen foods.
