A serial diution as performed using 100 microliters of the phage and 900 microliters of LB. You should reach a maximum dilution of 10^-6.Using the exact protocol as you did in this lab, what would the titer of the virus stock be if you observed 73 plaques on the plate with the greatest dilution?
Solution
The formula to calculate the titre of the viral Stock is
PFU/ml=number of plaques/d*V
Where, d= the dilution
V= volume of diluted virus those were added to the plate
So, the titre of the virus stock in this case= 73(plaques)/0.000001*0.1=7.3*10^8 PFU/ml
