Derive a mathematical model for the system shown using 0 the clockwise angular rotation of the bar as the dependent variable. A slender bar of mass m and total length L is pinned at O and attached to two springs and a viscous damper as shown. A slender bar of mass m/2 and length Lis welded to the bar at A such that its axis is perpendicular to the axis of the original bar. Assume small theta.

Solution

In the purest sense of the word , a balancer only has counter weights to balance the rotational assembly. therfore , an externally balanced engine uses weights on the flywheel in back and o n the balancer in the front . The flywheel ould be considered a balancer too as le barron added they are essentially the same thing . balancers have been integrated into dampers. A key function dampers play, is to dampen the torsional vbration . so adding the needed counter weights to balance the engine simplified the process on an externally balanced engine.
