Find the center and the radius of the circle with the given

Find the center and the radius of the circle with the given equation. X^2 +y^2+2x - 14y = 0

Solution

Dear Student

Thank you for using Chegg

Given equation

x^2 + 2x + y^2 -14y = 0

Completing squares of x and y

x^2 + 2x +1 + y^2 -14y + 49 = 1 + 49

(x+1 )^2 + (y - 7)^2 = 50

Comaring with standard equation of circle with centre h,k and radius r

(x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2 = r^2

h = -1

k = 7

radius = sqrt (50)

Hence solved
