Mintzerg has put forward the concept of managerial models in which he states that the managers need to adopt different roles in their daily life and leadership is one of the management role adopted by the managers. Other roles include Figurehead, Liaison, monitor, Disseminator, spokesperson, Entrepreneur, Disturbance handler, resource allocator and negotiator. These ten roles are grouped onto three categories which include interpersonal, informational and decisional. Leader is included as an interpersonal role where the manager provides leadership to the team and the manager is responsible to ensure the performance of all the group members. When managers assume the role of leaders they give direction to others in the team or the organization and helps to develop them. Other roles in interpersonal category include figure head and liaison. Informational category includes Monitor, disseminator and spokesperson and decisional category includes entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator and negotiator. The managers are involved in a series of activities throughout the day according to Mintzberg and assume the role according to the activities the manager needs to perform
