A lot can get lost in translation in written communication. You and a project team member haven\'t been on the same page since the project started. Unfortunately this is a person you have to work closely with in order to complete your tasks for the luncheon. Yesterday she sent you an email in capitalized letters. The email basically delegated all of her work to you. The company utilizes a 9 step approach to addressing problems within the project teams. Explain that process and what you can do to aid in ensuring the problem does not negatively affect the rest of the team and the delivery of the tasks needing to be completed?
Solution
I will suggest following steps:
1. Defining the problem-The Basic peroblem here is the lack of coordination between both of the team mates,It is visible that both of the team members are not on the same ground. Here if i consider myself as the subject of the case it is clearly visible that I am being delegated the work without and clear cut authority as well as without any co-ordination asked for.
2. Collecting details about the problem- I would like to collect the details of same kind past incidents and get the details like how it allowed the work or task to suffer.
3. Working on understanding the real problem- Here the actual problem is that the co-worker does not wan to work in co-ordination and work like a boss rather than a co-worker. It is more of a human issues than a organizational one.
4. Understanding solutions- The possible solutions of this probloem can be a straight sitting and discussion with the co-worker, Here the most important part i have to take care is that the work and project must not suffer,another part of the resolution will be to discuss the issues with the senior person on organization.the third part of solution is to remain silent and do not take any action.
5 & 6. Understanding about the best solutions out of the options and selectiong best out of those- Here i would like to go ahead with the first type of solution which is to sit and discuss the issues with the co-worker. Complaining to the senior will feel like backbiting and remaining silent will allow the co-wroker to further keep on taking wrong approach.
7. Taking the system in confidence- An important part of the problem resolution is the take the other co-workers and seniors in confidence.It will allow me explian the problem without and prejudice in system.
8. Final implementation of solution- At last i would like to call the person for a final discussion and get the problem resolved.
9. Evaluation of Results- Finally i would like to understand that what will the impact of discussing the issue with the co-workers, as the most important concerm here is that the work must not suffer else the overall excercise will beecome futile.
