What is your reaction to the following statement: \"Economists\' assumption of consumer ality is too strong. For example, anyone who smokes cigarettes is clearly being nal.\" Explain your reaction and why you feel this way from an economics standpoint.

Solution

The assumption strict says that the rationality lies in the opinion of the society not the individual himself where a there isn\'t a place for self thought to be rational unless it is acceptable by everyone on the whole. Therefore, I indeed get to consider economic view as rational when only everyone feels it\'s better on the whole.
