a bank teller has some five-dollar bills and some twenty-dollar bills. The teller has 5 more of the twenties. The total value of the money is $675. Find the number of five dollar bills that the teller has?

Solution

five dollar bills = F
twenty dollar bills = T

T = F + 5

F*5 + T*20 = 675

F + 4T = 135

Solving both equations

F = 23

T = 28
