A project is considered to be unique and it is mostly set up to deliver a project or service as per the business need. It is a temporary setup and once the goals are met the project gets completed. But business operations require business process management and are ongoing and repetitive. The work involves the same task to produce same result without an ending. The purpose of business operations is to keep the organization functioning and the purpose of project management is to achieve the goals set and then conclude. There are schedules for the project to begin and end while the business operations are never ending process. Hence it is difficult to fit project management techniques into business operations.
