Your group has to analyze a new design for a forklift. The fork is lifted vertically, guided by tracks located in the mast, by means of a motor-pulley system. When started, the motor turns at a constant speed of 200 revolutions per minute (rpm). The motor is connected to the cable reel with a chain and sprocket system. The motor sprocket has 50 teeth and the cable reel sprocket has 80 teeth. The diameter of the cable reel is 200 mm. Assume the cable always leaves the cable reel at the point indicated and that the cable attaches to the top of the fork.
Caluclate the velocity and acceleration of the fork when the base of the load is 2.5 m above the ground. The analysis should be based on a polar coordinate system with an origin located at the point where the cable leaves the reel.
