Solution
Answer:-
At a time when organizations and firms have faced increased competition in the market, the need to have these skills has become more and more crucial. Now, critical thinking can be described as analyzing and evaluating beliefs, knowledge and information. On the other hand, creative thinking can be described as developing new ideas and actions from procedures and rules. Each of these skills are important in the workplace, as they can improve and enhance growth, productivity and efficiency(Fung, 2014).
For instance, critical thinking is effective in management issues. lets take a classic example of low productivity and profits in the workplace. A manager would contemplate between sacking employees or laying off some workers in order to minimize costs, or rather cutting off some benefits in order to minimize costs. The thinking behind this would require critical thinking, as any actions or decisions made would have an impact on the organization.
Creative thinking is also useful in the workplace in a number of ways. For instance, you can adopt a democratic leadership style as a manger, where you would listen to ideas and opinions of your subordinates. In so doing, you would be ensuring that the decisions made are rational. Secondly, making time for people to brainstorm new ideas is also part of creative thinking, because they would generate good ideas. Furthermore, training and developing employees in the innovation procedures and techniques would also improve and enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
