How does chemical synapse work? Use two neurons as an example?

Solution

Answer : Synapse is physico-chemico-physical junction into which the neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine released. The neurotransmitter is released (By exocytosis) into the synaptic cleft from the axonal terminals of the presynaptic neuron followed by its diffusion and binds to the acetylcholine receptors on the post synaptic neuron. Binding to receptors triggers action potential along the neuronal axon of the post synaptic neurons and brings about the nerve impulse transmission.
