I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THESE TWO QUESTIONS

THANKS A LOT!

Solve each of the following and carefully justify your solution using full grammatical or dinary language sentences. Minimal credit will be given for numerical answers which are not adequately justified. 1. Mason, Paper Strip Imagine a long thin strip of paper stretched out in front of you, left to right. Imagine taking the ends in your hands and placing the right hand end on top of the left. Now press the strip flat so that it is folded in half and has a crease. Repeat the whole operation on the new strip two more times. How many creases are there? How many creases will there be if the operation is repeated 10 times in total? 2. Mason: Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet went to visit each other. They started at the same time and walked along the same path. However, Pooh was absorbed in a new hum\' and Piglet was counting birds overhead so they walked past each other without noticing. One minute after they met, Pooh was at Piglet\'s and three minutes after that Piglet reached Pooh\'s. How long had each walked?

Solution

you fold the paper You divide the paper into 2 pieces. No of creases = 2-1=1

The seond time you fold the paper You divide the paper into 22 pieces. No of creases = 4-1=3

The third time you fold the paper You divide the paper into 23 pieces. No of creases = 8-1=7.........Ans(1_1)

The 10th time you fold the paper You divide the paper into 210 pieces. No of creases=1024-1=1023..........Ans(1_2)

2)lt the distance between homes is X m.

let the speed of winnie be w mts/min

let the speed of piglet be p mts /min

let the time taken to reach the point be t

total time taken by pooh to cover X is t+1 min

total time taken by piglet to cover X is t+4 min

speed = distance travelled per time consumed

w=X/(t+1)

p=X/(t+4)
