Hello Everyone,
My name Xiyue Yang, I also go by Vance. I did my undergraduate at UCI majored in Economics with minor in Accounting. I am currently pursuing the General Business Studies with Concentration in Taxation certificate here at UCLA extension. I am taking this class to fulfill my CPA requirement. With that said, I want to become a CPA in the future as my profession. In my spare time, I like to watch movie, ride bike, go to the gym, and travel around.
I do not have much working experiences, but in my mind a leader is first, be able to communication with team members well. For example, a good leader should not only give orders, but also listen to other team members thoughts. Another aspect a good leader should have is motivation. My manager at an accounting intern is an example of a good leader. He would always encourage us through mistakes and motivate us by giving us rewards.

What did you learn about your classmate?
Provided actor from discussion thread is interested in the economics and accounting. He is more into accounting as he is interested in the CPA.
His definition of leadership is very limited which is evident from the experience he has in the past. He is still learning few concepts about leadership from observations of his manager which is obvious. Still, he has provided accurate facets of the leadership. Communication and motivation are two very important aspect of the leadership which are highlighted.
But to be an effective leader there are more to the listed features of the effective leader.

I also have similar views about leadership. But not limited to the views provided by the actor. Leadership should also posses’ qualities like conflict resolution, team building activities and effective recreational oriented activities to keep team alive even in pressure situation.
Conflict resolution is essential when team is for long term and if conflicts are not resolved in the amicable manner in time bound manner then it will lead encapsulate the whole team and will lead to the breakdown of the team. This has the serious effect on the whole project.
Leader even have to understand the qualities of the members and form the team which will have natural bonding between themselves. This will ensure easy execution of task by the team. So, to achieve desired result leader should understand team dynamics and build the team accordingly.
Is there a networking opportunity?
There is obvious networking opportunity with the actor from the discussion thread. Actor is ambitious and willing to get CPA certification. Actor is thoughtful and understanding the niches of the leadership by the observations in early his career. Co-operations and spending time together will definitely benefit each-other.
