Solution
For this week’s discussion I have chosen the concept of Leadership and Motivation in business. While searching the internet I have come across a relevant article by Martin Zwilling published in Forbes titled “8 Ways Leaders Can Motivate Employees Beyond Money”. The Author elaborates the qualities of a successful leader and explains why they believe that the primary motivation is to change the world and to build something lasting and not to make a lot of money despite the fact that employees work for money. The author says that non-cash incentives may be more effective in long term than the financial benefits offered to the employees.
The author speaks about the limited budget all entrepreneurs have and therefore to rebuild employee morale i.e. motivate the employees, a good leader should reflect the following qualities:
The author concludes by saying that the basics of leadership don’t change between good times and bad. However when money is in short supply, the principles discussed hereinabove if followed by a leader may go a long way in motivating the employees and the motivated team of employees will definitely overcome the bad times.
I found this article very relevant with the current week\'s textbook concepts because it gave me more insight into the topic of “Leadership and Motivation” and helped to build upon the knowledge that I have acquired from the text book.
