What type of security mechanism(s) are provided when a person signs a form he has filled out to apply for a credit card?   

Solution

Credit card company provides privacy of the credit card number. Only users have access to the their credit card number and along with that additional verification steps like personal identification number (PIN) and digital signature is provided to the user.

So, if any case, card is lost then user can block their card easily over a phone call and due to PIN and digital signature, it is very hard to misuse the stolen card.

And moreover, while doing online transactions using credit card, along all the details mentioned above, merchant companies send OTP to their registered mobile numbers which adds further layer of security.
