recombination frequency is all about a cross over of a single chromosome during meiosis.... when 2 genes present very closely on a same chromosome the recombination frequency is highest as they cannot be separated during chromatids formation..

if the genes are farther located then double cross over can occur which is less likely to result in recombination..
