Multiplexing is the generic term used to describe the operation of sending one or more analogue or digital signals over a common transmission line at different times or speeds and as such, the device we use to do just that is called a Multiplexer.

multiplexers are digital device which has many input and one output line,
n u are right it have 5 select lines since 2^5 = 32? And will it have 1 output in case of 32 input mux.


here is a relation to find no of select lines in a mux or dmux(single input many output)
let no of input lines are M

then

M=2^n
where n is no.of select lines....

in case of dmux,

if no of output lines are M

then

M=2^n

n=no.of select lines...
