There are two types of career goals.

Short term career goals are achievable within 9-12 and goals having more than this time frame are called long term goals.

As far as I am concern I work as a department manager in a retail outlet hence my short term goal is to get a promotion to get a role of assistant store manager. And long term, goal is to get the top most post in a retail organization.

I will talk my institute although I will not quote its name. My university has given me analytical skills, communication skills to create and develop corporate strategy and strategic planning.

Communication skills so that I can convey my ideas, plan, thinking, in an effective way. I can clear the group discussion or any personal interviews to get selected in the company.

I had been taught interpersonal skills. The leadership skills to lead the team. In my retail store I have 26 members in my team. Being a team leader my job is to get the work done through them. Many team members are elder than me. So my institute taught me the leadership skills to lead effectively. Hence I found it easy to convert the theories in practical. Otherwise I would have been working as a team member not team leader.

The education in my university has given me broad understanding of the business operations and this will help me out in achieving my career goals.

Many other qualities such as negotiation skills which I use in negotiating with the vendor to get the stock in cheaper rate, relationship management to maintain the relationship with the vendor etc.

These qualities help me out in achieving my task in my job and in future will help me out to get the top most position in a retail company.
