We have given,

x+y=6-----------------------(1)

7x-y=34....................(2)

Add (1) and (2) so that y get cancel out and we left with

x+7x = 6+34

=> 8x = 40

=> x= 40/8 = 5

Plugging value of x in (1)

5+y=6

=> y= 6-5 = 1

Hence solution to this system of equation is

x = 5 , y= 1
