Hypothesize about the way or ways in which each of the following bones is loaded when a person stands in anatomical position. Be as specific as possible in identifying which parts of the bones are loaded. a) Femur b) Tibia c) Scapula d) Humerus e) Third lumbar vertebra

Solution

a) Femur bone: It is the longest bone in our human body which is also called as thigh bone.It helps in supporting the weight of the body and allows the motion of the leg. The femur bone articulates proximally with the acetabulum of the pelvis forming the hip joint and distally with the tibia and patella to form the knee joint.

Tibia: Like the femur bone, tibia bears much of the body weight and plays essential role in movement and locomotion. The fibula is also one of the bone which is parllel to tibia. The tibia or shin bone, spans the lower leg articulating proximally with the femur and patella at the knee joint, and distally with the tarsal bones, to form the ankle joint. It is the major weight bearing bone of the lower leg.

Third Lumbar vertebra : The third lumbar vertebra is the is also know as L3 ligment in the soinal cord which supports a person to stand on his legs because spine is the most important part of the body to perform any function.Third lumbar vertebra is located in the middle of the lumbar spine.

And coming to scapula,it is the bone which needs to attach the upper arm and humerus is the long bone in upper arm which is located between elbow joint and shoulder. I thik femur bone, tibia and third lumber vertebra (L3 joint) are to be majorly loaded when a person stands.
