My discussion

Purpose of the Training - Confidently dealing with clients

In this we were taught about various things we need to keep in mind, develop while talking to clients, so we can understand their requirements well, be clear in terms of communication, setting realistic deliverable dates, required skill set etc.

It was a on the job training - We had Heads from 2-3 different departments coming in and telling various experience, things to deal with etc. All the steps were explained in detail with examples:

First meet/talk with the client

setting expectations

understanding the problem

gathering requirements

timely updates

final deliverable and changes if any

Meanwhile we were given a situation in which a former client wrongly interacted with the client which is leading to the client looking for other consultants. We, in teams, had to work out a way to get the client back

We formed ways out, talked with the CEO\'s P.A., we convinced her first confidently, got a timeslot on CEO\'s list, met him with solid impact statements and finally convinced him to work with us again.

It was a great training experience and very beneficial, now I follow step by step procedure keeping everything clear during client interaction which has led to better communication and effective results.

It can be stated that, in order to execute any activity or task in the professional world, training is very much important and significant. It has been observed that there are various forms of training that an individual undergo in order to perform diligently and efficiently in the organization. Training methods of the organizations are different and we have seen classroom trainings, practical trainings, on the job training and many more and there are various organizations who conduct all of the above mentioned trainings to make an individual enable. On the job training is the most common and popular training today because it is believed to be the most effective way of training as employees and employers both prefer this type of training. On the job training can be defined as the process of training provided to employees simultaneously while doing the job, on other words it is the training that an employee gets while he is already employed and working in the workplace. The training is provided by experienced professionals in the field who are already working and as this is the actual experience that the employee gets, so this is widely accepted and helpful. Employers also prefer this type of training because this cost effective, time saving and effective for both the stakeholders.

As there are various advantages and reasons to accept the type of training, there are some disadvantages too:
