what needs to done if you image a large drive and the destination disk is FAT 32?

Solution

Their is one specific characteristic of a FAT32 file system.

You can store a file with maximum size of 4GB.

If the file let\'s say an image file that is a .iso file which is having size more than 4GB, and you try to store it in that drive, it gives error like : not enough space available.

So, if you want to copy or store this larger size file, you can do one of the two tasks:

The larger file you can store inside NTFS file format.

Both of above mentioned looks somewhat similar. So, what you have to do is .. either use a specific tool that helps to change the directory type to NTFS.

Or to do it in a better and faster way, format the partition to NTFS type. This is supported by every operating system by default.

Note: Do backup your data before performing this task, this will erase the partition data completely. So, be careful.

Do comment if there is any query. I will help for sure. Thank you. :)
