Extra Credit 5 pts Read section 3 of Chapter 8 and then care
Extra Credit: (5 pts): Read section 3 of Chapter 8 and then carefully explain why diffraction limits resolution
Solution
if the light passes through a sufficiently small aperture, then the diffraction takes place and forms the fringes. This diffraction has some spread in the light distribution after passing through the aperture. This spread should not be matched for two sources in order to resolve them completely. so minimum distance is required between the two sources in order to separate the diffraction spots completely which is called rayleigh diffraction limit.
