Males are more likely than females to express a recessive ph
Males are more likely than females to express a recessive phenotype for a gene
located in the region of suppressed recombination of the human X
chromosome.
Solution
X linked genes ,hence x linked triats are more often found in males than females. Examples of X linked triats are haemophillia and red green colour blindness. These triats are expressed more often in males than females. It is due to the reason that males are hemizygous for x linked triats and gene located on X chromosome in males will be expressed since their is no other X chromosome which can check the expression of this gene.
In contrast to males, females are homozygous for x linked triats since their are two X chromosomes in females and only one X chromosome in males. Recessive gene on one of the X chromosome will not be expressed because, dominant allele on ither X chromosome will check its expression.
Its due to this reason X linked recessive phenotype is expressed in males more often than females.
